I have been unfortunately blessed with the driest of dry skin on my face. In the winter, it gets flaky and I have a few spots that peel, including my nose and chin. Anybody with dry skin or anybody that forgot to lather on the SPF before stepping out into the harsh and vengeful sun knows that peeling or cracked skin on your face makes for a straight-up NIGHTMARE when applying makeup.

Choices become limited and desperation begins to set in. This foundation? No that’ll dry me out even more. Should I extra exfoliate my face? Well now I have two problems—I’m as red as a tomato and the flakes are here to stay. A powder to set everything? Only unless I want to look like freshly grouted tile. Don’t even forget to put on a moisturizing something before going to bed, or you’ll surely be sorry in the morning. Dry skin is public enemy number one to skincare enthusiasts and makeup mavens alike and we’ll do anything to find a solution.
I’ve tested out my fair share of moisturizers, serums, oils, etc. I thought coconut oil was my holy grail and I didn’t need anything else. And it truly was for quite a while, until it wasn’t anymore. Skin changes, we can’t cry forever about it—we have to push on and conquer the next skincare frontier to defeat the pesky flakes.
I discovered Argan oil from my best friend/roommate. Well not exactly, I had been using Argan oil in my hair forever, and knew it was practically gold and made for a silky blowout. Never had I considered using Argan oil on my skin though. I’m not sure why. But recently, I went through a depressing spout of unruly skin, complete with pimples, redness, AND dryness. The trifecta, otherwise known as the League of Evil Skin Problems.

As I reach for the coconut oil dejectedly before bed, she tells me, “Here, use some of my Argan oil. It’s a little bit more moisturizing than coconut oil and feels a little less oily and gross, if you know what I mean.”
“What the hell,” I thought, “why not.” At this point I was desperate and needed something to alleviate my skin trauma so I applied it before bed and woke up with beautiful, glowing skin that still had a few red dots from past pimples that gave me hope they would go away with a few more applications (they did!). Her Argan oil was by a brand called InstaNatural and had a dropper, which I loved because I really had control over how much I wanted to use of this liquid goldmine. She ordered hers from Amazon for a great price, so I did the same and I haven’t looked back.
My Argan oil is amazing. I use it in my hair, on my face, and after shaving to lock in smoothness and keep away razor burn. It is truly my holy grail in my quest to vanquish the League of Evil Skin Problems, and in my experience, I see in 1-4 days (depending on how bad the League is at the time). I love this InstaNatural brand I got, as it is a great price for a good amount (Argan oil is a bit pricey as it is imported). I got mine for $20 as a Prime member on Amazon, and it came in two days (two days that seemed like an eternity!).

Unfortunately, it seems they changed the bottle since my friend ordered hers. Her bottle had a dropper and my 4 oz. bottle has a push top, which gives you less control in how much oil you want to disperse. However, this brand is all organic as it claims and there are no other fillers or binders in the oil, which is extremely important to me when buying things like this. It absorbs quickly, and can be worn under makeup (something I hated doing with coconut oil). I’m loving my Argan oil and use it everyday and every night and it has truly become a solid investment and addition to my skincare regime.

If you are currently battling the League of Evil Skin Problems, I HIGHLY suggest looking into an Argan oil as your weapon of choice. Good luck.
