I had the opportunity to try out four products from Korean skincare brand, The Plant Base, courtesy of Blooming Koco (www.bloomingkoco.com) and I'm so excited to share my review with yall! I really enjoyed all of these, but there were two clear winners for me. Read below to find out which ones I'll be keeping in my skincare rotation for the future!

Main ingredients:

  • Ginseng

  • White Truffle

  • Apricot Seeds

Helps with:

  • Brightening

  • Cell turnover

  • Evening skin tone

  • Antioxidants/soothing

So, this White Truffle Peel is an exfoliant. One of the first things I noticed was that it has apricot seeds in the ingredients, so I was a bit hesitant to use this. After using it for a couple weeks, I can confidently say this ain’t your infamous drugstore apricot scrub you used when you were 13 because you didn’t know any better. The difference is this one is a mix of finely ground seeds and natural cellulose for skin cell turnover and an all over gentle peel.

I used this a few times a week as it’s gentle enough that you’re not likely to go overboard and scrub off your moisture barrier. I noticed an immediately brighter complexion and soothed skin even if it had been red and inflamed moments before. If you’re someone who needs/likes a deep or intense exfoliation, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this product, but for a gentle every day scrub, this is a winner.

Main ingredients:

  • Centella Asiatica

  • INFLAX

  • Tea Tree Oil

  • Ulmus Davidiana root extract

Helps with:

  • Soothing

  • Antioxidants

  • Acne clearing/sebum controlling

  • Protecting

I’ve tried all kinds of things I shouldn’t have tried for spot treatments that I won’t go into here because it’s embarrassing the lengths I would go to get rid of a pimple overnight back in the day. I later started keeping it simple with a benzoyl peroxide product but I would find that that would dry out my skin really badly around the spot (duh!).

When I tell you they named this product correctly… magic. I swear. I put this on and the redness and spot are lessened almost immediately and gone within a day or two. The reason I love this spot treatment is because it uses an antibacterial, natural astringent like tea tree oil to tackle the clogged pore but is balanced out with the centella extract to plump up the collagen and improve circulation which will decrease the redness and keep the skin from drying out too much. From my research, I’ve learned that Ulmus Davidiana Root extract is actually a hydrating superstar and can do as much moisturizing as the ever beloved hyaluronic acid.

I’ll definitely be keeping this in my skincare regimen for the future.

Main ingredients:

  • Hericium Erinaceus

  • Tremella fuciformis

  • Schizophyllan

Helps with:

  • Infusing skin with collagen

  • Anti-aging/wrinkling

  • Hydration (barrier formed)

  • Helps skin retain water and helps with blood flow

  • Anti-acne

Love love love. I think this has made the most overall difference for my face concerning everything from texture to hydration. I use this every morning and every night before I apply my moisturizer. This collagen product utilizes three different types of fungi or fungi compounds to mimic the collagen we produce in our bodies.

As we age, we lose collagen more quickly which results in fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging; in other words, collagen is what’s needed to provide that youthful plumpness in the skin. I can say after using this for a few weeks, my skin was smooth and plump and not dull whatsoever.

The instructions say you can put this on all over your face or you can combine it with other skin care items such as moisturizer to pack an extra punch. I like to wash my face and leave it damp, add my hyaluronic acid and then a layer of the Time Stop over it. Once I give that some time to soak in, I go in with jojoba and sunscreen during the day.

This was my overall FAVORITE product from this line and I will for sure continue using this and recommending to every one!

Main ingredients:

  • Tannin extract from persimmon leaf, chestnut, and resveratrol

  • Galactomyces ferment filtrate

  • EVERMAT (controls sebum)

  • INFLAX (soothing, anti-oxidant, revitalizing)

  • AHA/BHA from: lactic acid, citric acid, malic acid

Helps with:

  • Cleaning out impurities

  • Soothes

  • Oil control

  • Remove dead skin cells

Okay I’m gonna preface this with this: I normally have dry to very dry, acne prone skin (I say normally because a lot of things changed after using the aforementioned Time Stop Collagen Ampoule!) so I’m not usually looking for anything with oil control. However, I used this maybe 1-2 times a week or as needed and it was very gentle and not too drying which is what I expected from an AHA/BHA product. I mostly found this useful while I was on my period and hormones had my skin outta wack and a little oilier. I will say that this is definitely super soothing from the patented INFLAX ingredient the Plant Base Uses which is nice and unexpected from an AHA/BHA product.

This product isn’t necessarily my thing but for someone that has normal to oily skin, I think this would be a great toner to use everyday/ every other day that isn’t too astringent and won’t totally destroy your moisture barrier but still keep shine at bay.
